[Webinar] Hiring at Permanent Equity, Q&A

Additional Questions from the Chat:

Q: Given the increase in deal activity, do you envision hiring a "deals" MD in the foreseeable future?

A: Emily Holdman is our current MD of Deals. We will be adding to the acquisitions team as we grow, but the exact roles are not yet outlined.

Q: Do you all see value in adding someone with early stage VC experience to the Permanent Equity team?

A: There is certainly overlap between operating in the SMB space and early-stage VC: limited resources, everyone needing to do a little bit of everything, a small team of like-minded people. Experience with these things would serve you well at Permanent Equity or at one of our portfolio companies.

Q: Any interest to evaluate with carve-outs of large corporations, especially in aerospace where a divest-a-gedon will be occurring?

A: We’re open to all kinds of acquisition structures, so we’d never say “no” based on whether or not something is a carve out. We would be completely focused on fit.

Q: Hello, wondering whether former founders/entrepreneurs are suitable candidates?

A: Definitely.

Q: Given your longer investment horizon (perpetuity in some cases) do you ever encourage portfolio companies to reinvest those cash assets into developing new products?

A: Yes, all the time. We only distribute cash back to investors that we believe can’t be reinvested in a long-term accretive way.

Q: Does Permanent Equity's central sourcing team take on sourcing M&A opps for portfolio companies?

A: Yes, same team.

Q: Is there any interaction between the portfolio companies / management teams and are there any financial incentives in place to achieve synergies / upside projects over time with other portfolio companies?

A: We are talking about this very thing currently and how to increase conversation amongst our various leadership teams.
