About Emily

Emily Holdman is a Managing Director at Permanent Equity. She runs the front end of the firm, including how Permanent Equity shows up to the market, conversations with advisors and owners,  and the negotiation of key deal terms. She sits on the boards of Ace Fence, Presidential Pools, Rylee + Cru, and Selective Search.

After studying journalism and economics, she began her career in marketing and publicity. That was actually how she came to work at Permanent Equity. As an entrepreneur, Brent had built a small marketing firm in Columbia, which Emily joined in 2009. The firm completed its first acquisition the following spring.

Emily has been talking with owners about transition plans and deal structures since 2011. She enjoys learning the nuances of a company’s history and operational success. Permanent Equity typically invests to become a growth partner or facilitate a legacy transition, but each deal is designed and structure to address the specific needs and circumstances of the company, working to ensure that “what’s next” works well for everyone.

Operationally, Emily has a passion for growing a company’s opportunity funnel. She enjoys digging into ad spend allocations, sales team structures and incentives, competitive dynamics, pricing strategies, and offering extensions. Equally important is ensuring each company’s leadership team and operational infrastructure are equipped to take on new stages of growth.

Outside the office, Emily is keeping up with her daughter, hiking, cheering on Mizzou, and taking on home improvement projects with her husband that probably should have been outsourced.
