Is it This Simple?
This is a short one because the devil is in the implementation and not the aspiration…
A question we’ve gotten a lot recently in different forums is “Why do people who work at Permanent Equity stay at Permanent Equity?” And while our founder and CEO Brent has a longer, more eloquent answer to this, my answer, at the risk of being flippant, is that people stay because we aim to compensate people reasonably well for working on interesting problems while having fun with accountability.
In other words, Longevity=Reward*(Stimulation+Enjoyment)^Performance.
If you can get that right – and that’s our aspiration – you should be able to attract and retain great people. Of course, solving that equation and having it stay solved is no easy feat because no matter your or our best efforts, entropy is and will remain undefeated.
