My Beef with Kanye

Our CEO Brent told a funny story before a meeting recently about one of his buddies who ended up inviting a famous rapper over to celebrate New Year’s Eve with his family because they discovered they were neighbors and neither had any other plans that evening.

That led to others sharing their stories about run-ins with rappers, and I said, “You guys know I have beef with Kanye, right?”

“What?” Brent said. “How has this not been an Unqualified Opinion yet?”

“Yeah,” I said. “I was in Chicago for a board meeting and went for a walk after the meeting. I turned off Michigan Avenue and saw a group walking shoulder to shoulder coming towards me taking up the whole sidewalk. I moved to my right, but they didn’t move to theirs. The guy on the end shouldered me and knocked me off the curb and into the street.”

“Did you fall over?” Emily asked.

“No, but I lost my footing. Anyway, the guy who did it looked familiar and there was a doorman standing there who saw the whole thing so I said ‘Was that Kanye West?’”

“Yeah,” the doorman said. “He’s a real asshole.”

Sometimes when you meet someone, they turn out to be totally different than you expected. Other times, they don’t.

Have a great weekend.
